So far this year Hannah has had two field trips at preschool. The first one was to a dairy. The kids got to feed animals, watch cows being milked, watch a video about cows, and eat cheese curds and drink milk. Hannah was thrilled to come home and tell me all about the cows and how the dairy worked. We have since had many discussions about cows and about the color of cows and what kind of milk they produce. For example, brown cows make chocolate milk, right?

Next the kids went to a fire station and I was able to go with them. The kids eyes were huge the entire time. We got to see where the firemen sleep (with beds that fold out of the wall), eat and exercise. Their favorite room was the kitchen/living room. The firemen had a "huge" (arms sweeping) TV and three refrigerators. Then of course we got to go out and see the fire truck. Each kid got to sit in the front seat and "drive" the fire truck. Fire Man Jimmy told us all about fire safety and even dressed up in all of his gear so the kids would know what the firemen look like. Hopefully this experience will help the kids to not be afraid of them if they ever had to come and save them.
(Thank you Ashley for the pictures!)
